roller coasters are fun; especially old wooden ones, like the one at Knott's Berry Farm. Definitely my favorite.

It snowed again today.

One of my bosses, while we were out to lunch celebrating Administrative Professional's Day, says, 'why would you want to live anywhere but Colorado. This weather is gorgeous.' And it was yesterday. Sunny, a few clouds in the sky, high of 70 or so. I tell him, remember Monday and Tuesday (the snow) and now I would add in, and today. Not so much my favorite at the END OF APRIL.

Anywho, God is God and is sovereign and so I praise Him for the snow even though I don't really understand it or appreciate it as much as I probably should.

grounded

Isaiah 30:15

This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says:
"In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength..."

altitude and attitude

The weather's been a mess lately. Sunday it hailed twice, Monday and Tuesday it snowed, yesterday and today have been warm and sunny. Kind of like my emotions these days...a mess. Am doing much better today. Crazy how the thoughts and actions of one person can send me on a roller coaster. Am experiencing a ride I've never been on before and am trying to enjoy it, not knowing the twists and turns it might take.

In other noteworthy news, my boss/pastor/friend decides that he's going to form a committee at my church whose only purpose will be to decide what I should do with the rest of my life (his first idea was for me to be his assistant for the next 25 years; says it would be job security; I laughed and then begged to differ about the job security part, seeing as how his job is up in the air on any given day). I'll not be on said committee, although he said I could help choose the people to be on it. He's totally serious about this. We haven't come up with the final list of people. We're still discussing that part, throwing out names here and there. He said they would come up with three, two that I should choose from; the third being an alternate leaving open the possibility of marriage. I asked why the first two couldn't be open to that, too. His response, well, what if we come up with Hospital Administrator in Bangladesh? Nice...

So that's what's up with me these days. Am celebrated this week with two free lunches for the amazing job as Administrative Professional that I do. That's kind of fun (not the job I do, but the free lunches).

response

there was a bit of motive behind the 'would you rather' question posed yesterday. everyone who commented chose the one that makes the choices ahead harder...i think i would rather be in an institution (at least it's clean and structured, right?).

perspective and timing

i found out saturday that i didn't get into CU Boulder. in light of another recent development in my life, i wasn't as bummed about it as i would have been, oh say, a month ago, or so. pretty interesting, really. but i may be looking into joining the circus, since that's what i said i'd do if i didn't get either of the opportunities to which i've applied...i'll keep you posted. any other ideas of employment you may have are welcomed.

enhanced day

reading: Slowing down doesn’t mean a lack of activity, but a focus on the only activity that really matters at all. What I’m talking about is the heart. I’m talking about sinking into the good things, the noble things, the beautiful things that Christ has spoken into the world around us, and that we notice in our cluttered world only by trying to notice them. by Andrew Peterson

Sunday's Scripture

Romans 4:18-25
18Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be."[d] 19Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah's womb was also dead. 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness." 23The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone, 24but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Not by what I do, but the faith in God I have...hoping against all hope...

Sunday's place

Hung out with a friend at the Market. LOVE this place.

Saturday's Scripture

Matthew 12:30-37
30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. 31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
33"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

WORDS ARE IMPORTANT
I'm totally convicted concerning the words that come from my mouth, that flow from my heart.
